BONAVENTURE FAMILY PORTRAIT W/ SHANNON SCOTT     Watercolor & Prismacolor pencil
Original painting size 14" X 20"; framed & matted 18" X 24"

Bonaventure Cemetery Tours (R) All Rights Reserved www.bonaventurecemterytours.com

This portrait of local celebrity Shannon Scott arose from my taking his Bonaventure Cemetery Tour, and knowing him as a social friend: he's got the Big Personality, the looks, the knowledge and the wit that brings people to the forefront of attention--his cemetery tours have become famous for good reason. He exudes an aura of mystery, secret knowledge, self-confidence and dark humor. He gives the kind of information on his tours that you really want to know: he goes into such depth, embellished with such exquisite details, that its almost as if he knew these people personally and you come away even more charmed & curious than when you arrived, actually having learned something. He started out small, and has risen to prominence with his knowledgeable storytelling and has become a 5-star attraction on TripAdvisor. I've known him for many years and his colorful personality, profound intelligence and quirky sense of humor make him stand out among local celebrities.

In the picture Shannon holds the hand of the famous statue of little Gracie and has the statue of Corinne Elliot Lawton leaning on his shoulder--both the statues come to life!--and in the background the Spirit of Johnny Mercer sits upon the bench carved with the titles of his hit songs (which stands in his family burial plot). Buddy the Fox, a popular natural inhabitant of Bonaventure Cemetery lies at Shannons feet--what's a "family portrait" without a "pet"? At Gracie's feet are a small collection of the kinds of gifts visitors sometimes leave at her gravesite.
